With the 2025/26 Premier League season set to kick off on August 15th, dedicated football fans are already marking their calendars for the most exciting matchups.
However, changes to this year’s broadcast schedule mean they will be watching more matches than ever in one place – Sky Sports Premier League.
After an intense bidding war, Sky Sports has secured the rights to broadcast four out of five of the match packages. The number of matches aired on the dedicated sports TV channels will increase from 128 last season to 215.
The change means that fans have more reason than ever to subscribe to Sky. With the Sky Sports add-on costing less than 74p a day, it’s never been easier to enjoy so much great football.
How is Sky Sports showing so many Premier League matches?
The rights to broadcast Premier League matches are sold to broadcasters at auction in packages containing certain timeslots.
This year, Sky Sports secured 4 out of 5 available packages, with the fifth selling to TNT Sports (formerly BT Sports).
Sky’s packages include all final games of the season, which will be broadcast live in one place for the first time. Not only will Sky Sports continue showing their iconic Super Sunday live coverage on select Sundays, but the broadcaster will also show multiple live matches at 2 pm.
Overall, subscribers will be able to enjoy at least four matches a week on Sky for the entirety of the 2025/26 season.
What is Sky Sports Premier League?
‘Sky Sports’ is a package of channels available to add to a Sky TV subscription. The package includes 9 channels showing a wide range of live and recorded sports. Currently, Sky Sports includes dedicated channels for tennis, cricket, F1 and more, as well as Sky Sports Premier League.
Sky Sports Premier League airs live Premier League matches, analysis, compilations and more. It’s the best place to enjoy dedicated coverage of the top tier of UK football. Football fans can also enjoy coverage of the UK’s second division championship, the EFL on Sky Sports Football.
Will Amazon Prime still show Premier League games?
Previously, a portion of Premier League games were broadcast live by Amazon as part of their Prime Video service. However, Amazon has not purchased any match packages in the 2025/26 Premier League season.
Amazon Prime has aired around 20 matches each season for the last six years. However, changes to the match packages up for auction this season meant the online retailer and streaming giant were not able to compete with Sky and TNT Sports.
What matches can I watch on TNT Sports?
TNT Sports is the new name for BT Sports, and will air the remainder of this season’s Premier League matches. TNT Sports will air a total of 52 live matches across the 2025/26.
Sky TV subscribers who don’t want to miss any of the action can add TNT Sports to their package on a monthly rolling contract, guaranteeing access to every single Premier League match this season.
